Chunky knit sweater vest hand knitted from soft Italian extra-fine merino wool. This oversized sleeveless wool vest has a cropped length, relaxed shape, accentuated shoulders and chunky ribbed hem, creating a bold handmade layering piece with a thick textured look.

The slightly extended shoulder line gives the vest a stronger, more structured look than a classic sleeveless vest, without shoulder pads.

This vest is now available with custom neckline and knit pattern options. The main teal sample shows the original Moss / Seed Stitch version with a Simple Round Neck. You can also choose a Ribbed Crew Neck, Folded Ribbed Turtleneck or Wide Cowl Neck for a warmer or more sculptural look.

The fit, cropped length, extended shoulder shape and chunky ribbed hem remain the same for all versions — only the neckline and main knit pattern change.

Please note: the photos show the Simple Round Neck version. Other neckline options are made to order based on our existing sweater neckline styles. The neckline option photo shows examples of these collar shapes on our sweaters, so you can better imagine how each option may look.

Neckline options:
  • Simple Round Neck (as shown) - a clean, simple neckline without a separate ribbed collar, shown on the teal sample.
  • Ribbed Crew Neck - a classic round neckline finished with chunky ribbing.
  • Folded Ribbed Turtleneck - a warm high collar with a folded ribbed neck.
  • Wide Cowl Neck - a high, wide and relaxed neckline with a more sculptural look.
Knit pattern options:
  • Moss / Seed Stitch (as shown) - the original textured version shown in the main photos.
  • Stockinette Stitch - a smoother, cleaner knit with a more minimal look.
  • Garter Stitch - a cozy textured knit with soft horizontal ridges.

Yarn Details

Our chunky yarn is 100% handmade. It is hand-spun from 100% extra fine merino wool 18,5 microns from Italy. It is the best and premium merino quality in a market known for its extra softness and silkiness. It is a single ply, popular roving type yarn with a slight twist. Merino yarn goes through all necessary stages from fiber preparation to a spinning on a spinning wheel and washing to make lightly felted. This helps to fix the form of the yarn and get smooth textured surface with a unique look and soft feel. It allows knitwear to be more practical, helps to prevent pilling and shedding.

Merino Wool Origin and Certifications
  • Extra fine merino wool tops used to the production of our wool come from both Australia and South America and are carefully selected in Italian factory to ensure constant quality over time.
  • Additionally, being of animal origin, the extra fine Merino wool top is biodegradable and therefore environmentally friendly.
  • All lots are MULESING FREE. The dyeing complies with Oeko-Tex Standard 100 and is done in a dyeinghouse in Italy which is GOTS 5.0 and GRS certified.

Догляд

  • Professional dry cleaning once a season is recommended.
  • For everyday care, gently air the vest after wearing and store it folded, not hanging, to help keep its shape.
  • A fabric shaver is recommended to gently refresh the surface when light pilling appears. This is normal for soft natural merino wool, especially in areas of friction such as the sides, hem and underarm area. Regular gentle shaving helps keep the vest looking neat, clean and well maintained.
  • Gentle hand washing in cool water is possible if needed. Use a mild wool detergent. Do not rub, twist or agitate the vest. Gently press out excess water in a towel and lay flat to dry. Please note that chunky wool becomes heavy when wet.
  • Machine washing is possible only on a very gentle wool cycle in cool water, with low or no spin. It may change the original look and feel of the yarn: the stitches may become more compact, and the vest may lose some of its soft chunky volume. For best results, professional dry cleaning or gentle hand washing is recommended.
  • Do not bleach, tumble dry or use fabric softener.
