Description

Digital knitting pattern to knit a chunky short cardigan. Cardigan features shortened and lightly oversized silhouette, dropped shoulders, puffed 3/4 sleeves and ribbed edges. Timeless bulky knitwear for colder days!

  • Level: Intermediate.
  • Stitches: knit and purl stitches, 1x1 twisted rib stitch.
  • Time to finish: approx. 8-10 hours
  • The cardigan is hand knitted in one piece by working from bottom to top up to the armholes. The sleeves are knitted from the armholes and the ribbed collar is completed at the end by picking up and knitting stitches along the fronts and the back. Knits up quickly with the large needles and chunky yarn.

What you need (not included)
  1. Yarn - 4-5 skein ( 800 grams - 1 kg) of a super bulky /super chunky weight yarn (#6)/ approx. meterage 80-90 meters per 200 grams skein. Yarn variants - HELLO MERINO by Knit Design Studio, The Wool by We are Knitters, Malabrigo Rasta, Crazy Sexy Wool from Wool and the Gang. The cardigans on a photo are knitted from The Wool by We are Knitters and Hello Merino by our brand.
  2. Knitting needles - 1 pair of 12 mm (US 17) circular knitting needles  (100-120 cm/40-47") or 1 pair of 15 mm (US 19) circular knitting needles (100-120 cm/40-47") or both
  3. Sewing/ tapestry needle
  4. Spare needle, stitch holder or unused thread
  5. Felting needle to connect yarn and hide the ends (optional)
Knitting needles recommendations:
  • 12 mm (US 17) circular knitting needles are recommended (especially if you knit rather loosely). Also this size is recommended for knitting more tight ribbed cuffs.
  • 15 mm (US 19) circular knitting needles are also possible if you knit more tightly or want more loose fabric. Bigger needles will also make a little bigger cardigan.
  • For the sleeves and cuffs, you will need to use a magic loop technique if using circular needles 100-120 cm/40-47". To avoid this, you may use circular needles 50-60 cm/20-24" for sleeves or DPNs for cuffs.
