Create your own classic 1x1 ribbed beanie hat with this knitting pattern. This beanie features a stretchy ribbed texture and a folded brim for a timeless winter look. Cozy, practical and easy to style.

This knit ribbed beanie pattern is designed to be knitted on 6 mm (US 10) knitting needles for a bulky weight yarn No 5. But it can be easily customizable for different yarns.

  • Level - Beginner friendly /Easy
  • Main stitches and skills: Cast on (double long-tail cast on for advanced knitters), knit and purl stitches, knitting in the round, easy decreases.
  • Time to finish: approx. 3-4 hours
  • The beanie is knitted in a round on a circular knitting needles, without seams.

What You Need (not included)
  • Yarn - Approx. 100g for standard size, or 150g for large size of bulky yarn (weight category #5). Beanie on the photos is knitted with a yarn Piuma by DHG (120 meters per 100 g ball).
  • Other yarn options: We are Knitters The Petite Wool, Wool and the Gang Lil’ Crazy Sexy Wool, Malabrigo Mecha, Berroco Ultra Wool Chunky, Cascade 128 Superwash, Rowan Big Wool, Knit Design Studio HELLO MERINO XS. Any other bulky weight yarn designed to be kitted on 6 mm (US 10) knitting needles and meets gauge may be used.
  • Knitting needles - 6 mm (10 US) circular needles (40-50 cm / (16"-20") length).
  • Sewing / tapestry needle.
  • Felting needle (optional for joining yarn and hiding ends).
  • Stitch markers or contrast yarn.
Sizes

The pattern is written in 2 sizes:

  • standard size (fits most with head circumference 55-58 cm)
  • larger size (for head circumference 58-60 cm (larger head, men's size, curly hair).
  • The pattern may be easily adjusted to other size, instructions are included.
