Introducing our long cardigan knitting kit! With its chunky oversized fit, dropped shoulders, and long sleeves, this cardigan is perfect for chilly days and cool evenings.   • Level - Easy / Intermediate (Cast on, cast off, knit and purl stitches, decreases are necessary to know). 
  • Time to finish - approx. 16-20 hours
  • This cardigan is hand knitted in one piece by working from bottom to top up to the armholes. The sleeves are knitted from the armholes and the ribbed collar is completed at the end by picking up and knitting stitches along the fronts and the back. 
Kit contents:
  • Yarn - 8-11 skeins (1,6- 2,2 kg) of Hello Merino yarn - depends on cardigan size
  • Needles (optional) - 1 pair of 12 mm (US 17) circular knitting needles 100-120 cm/40-47". 15 mm (US 19) circular knitting needles may also be used if you knit more tightly or want more loose fabric. Bigger needles will also make a little bigger cardigan.
  • Finishing kit - sewing and felting needles to connect yarn and hide the ends
  • 1 cardigan pattern in English
For the sleeves and cuffs, you will need to use a magic loop technique if using circular needles 100-120 cm/40-47". To avoid this, you may use circular needles 50-60 cm/20-24" for sleeves or DPNs for cuffs.

    Yarn Details

    This knitting kit is made with our Hello Merino yarn, made from 100% Australian merino wool. This super bulky weight yarn is the best yarn for easy, quick and cozy knitting of your accessories (beanies, scarves, mittens), sweaters, cardigans or chunky warm blankets. The yarn is very soft, warm, not itchy. Excellent yarn for beginners!

    Yarn Characteristics
    • Fiber: 100% Australian merino wool (21 microns)
    • Meterage: 80-90 meters (87-98 yards) per 200 gram ball
    • Yarn weight: Super Chunky / Super Bulky / Yarn Weight 6
    • Thickness of a yarn: approx. 5-7 mm
    • Yarn details: Roving type yarn with a slight twist
    • Average tension: 7 stitches + 9 rows per 10 cm / 4 (using 15 mm needles)
    • Recommended needles: 10-12 mm (for beanies), 12-15 mm (for scarves, snoods, sweaters, cardigans)

    The pattern is written in four sizes.

    • Extra small – Small (XS-S): width approx. 50cm, length: approx. 100cm., sleeve length approx. 43cm - 8 hanksx200 grams/1,6 kg
    • Small - Medium (S-M) - width approx. 60cm, length: approx. 110cm., sleeve length approx. 45cm - 9 hanksx200 grams/1,8 kg
    • Medium - Large (M-L) - width approx. 70cm, length: approx. 110cm., sleeve length approx. 45cm - 10 hanksx200 grams/2 kg
    • Large – Extra Large (L-XL) - width approx. 80cm, length: approx. 110cm., sleeve length approx. 47cm - 11 hanksx200 grams/2,2 kg

    Models are wearing size S-M, color Royal Blue.

    The cardigan is really oversized fit. To have more regular fir, please, size down. Or size up if you want to have extra large knitted cardigan.

    Care
    • Gentle hand wash (with a cool water, without any agitation, lay flat to dry).
    • Washing machine is also possible (using cold water only, delicate/wool cycle, without agitation, air dry only). But note that washing in a machine will make yarn lightly felted, less fluffy, harder to touch, some softness will be lost. ​
