Chunky knit sweater with crew neck, hand knitted from soft Italian extra-fine merino wool. This oversized sweater has a relaxed silhouette, ribbed crew neck and voluminous sleeves, creating a cozy handmade shape that is easy to style.

This sweater is now available in several knit pattern options. The main photos show the original Garter Stitch version, but you can also choose Stockinette Stitch or Moss / Seed Stitch for a different look.

Knit pattern options for oversized knit sweater

The fit, crew neck, sleeves and overall shape remain the same for all options — only the main knit pattern changes. The stitch sample photo shows the available textures, so you can choose the version that feels most like your style.

The sweater is made from our hand-spun Merino Mini yarn — a lighter chunky merino version that is more wearable than our jumbo Merino Maxi styles, while still feeling warm, substantial and visibly handmade.

Yarn Details

Our chunky yarn is 100% handmade. It is hand-spun from 100% extra fine merino wool 18,5 microns from Italy. It is the best and premium merino quality in a market known for its extra softness and silkiness. It is a single ply, popular roving type yarn with a slight twist. Merino yarn goes through all necessary stages from fiber preparation to a spinning on a spinning wheel and washing to make lightly felted. This helps to fix the form of the yarn and get smooth textured surface with a unique look and soft feel. It allows knitwear to be more practical, helps to reduce pilling and shedding.

Merino Wool Origin and Certifications
  • Extra fine merino wool tops used to the production of our wool come from both Australia and South America and are carefully selected in Italian factory to ensure constant quality over time.
  • Additionally, being of animal origin, the extra fine Merino wool top is biodegradable and therefore environmentally friendly.
  • All lots are MULESING FREE. The dyeing complies with Oeko-Tex Standard 100 and is done in a dyeinghouse in Italy which is GOTS 5.0 and GRS certified.

Care
  • Professional dry cleaning once a season is recommended.
  • For everyday care, gently air the sweater after wearing and store it folded, not hanging, to help keep its shape.
  • A fabric shaver is recommended to gently refresh the surface when light pilling appears. This is normal for soft natural merino wool, especially in areas of friction such as the sleeves, sides and underarms. Regular gentle shaving helps keep the sweater looking neat, clean and well maintained.
  • Gentle hand washing in cool water is possible if needed. Use a mild wool detergent. Do not rub, twist or agitate the sweater. Gently press out excess water in a towel and lay flat to dry. Please note that chunky wool becomes heavy when wet.
  • Machine washing is possible only on a very gentle wool cycle in cool water, with low or no spin. It may change the original look and feel of the yarn: the stitches may become more compact, and the sweater may lose some of its soft chunky volume. For best results, professional dry cleaning or gentle hand washing is recommended.
  • Do not bleach, tumble dry or use fabric softener.
