Have an hour? You can knit this simple classic beanie by yourself! Working with super chunky yarn and large needles, this will be a quick and easy project. Beanie features a chunky knit and clean edge for a simple finish. You could roll a cuff yourself if your beanie hat is too big or you feel like changing up your look. A winter wardrobe staple.

  • Skill level - Confident beginner / Easy (Cast on, cast off, knit stitches, easy decreases, knitting in the round are necessary to know)

  • The beanie is knitted in a round on a circular knitting needles, without seams.

Yarn Details

This knitting kit is made with our Merino Mini yarn, super bulky yarn handspun from high quality Italian 100% merino wool. Luxuriously soft, silky, and non-itchy, it's perfect for chunky next-to-skin knits like snoods, scarves, sweaters, cardigans, hats, chunky blankets, and more. This yarn is easy, quick, and pleasant to knit with, available in 70 rich colors.

Yarn Details

Our chunky yarn is 100% handmade. It is hand-spun from 100% extra fine merino wool 18,5 microns from Italy. It is the best and premium merino quality in a market known for its extra softness and silkiness. It is a single ply, popular roving type yarn with a slight twist. Merino yarn goes through all necessary stages from fiber preparation to a spinning on a spinning wheel and washing to make lightly felted. This helps to fix the form of the yarn and get smooth textured surface with a unique look and soft feel. It allows knitwear to be more practical, prevents pilling and shedding. It is easier to knit with lightly felted yarn than with unfelted wool.

Merino Wool Origin and Certifications
  • Extra fine merino wool tops used to the production of our yarn come from both Australia and South America and are carefully selected in Italian factory to ensure constant quality over time.
  • Additionally, being of animal origin, the extra fine Merino wool top is biodegradable and therefore environmentally friendly.
  • All lots are MULESING FREE. The dyeing complies with Oeko-Tex Standard 100 and is done in a dyeinghouse in Italy which is GOTS 5.0 and GRS certified.

Beanie size
  • The pattern is written in 2 sizes: standard size (fits most with head circumference 55-58 cm) and larger size (for head circumference 58-60 cm (larger head, men's size, curly hair).
  • Depth - 25 cm ( 9,8"). The beanie is designed with a slightly high top. You could roll a small cuff yourself if your beanie hat is too high or you feel like changing up your look. The beanie also may be knitted shorter to fit your head closely on top.
  • Width (in a flat position) - 24 cm (9,5")
  • Weight - approx. 200 grams
Care
  • Gentle hand wash (with a cool water, without any agitation, lay flat to dry) is available.
  • Washing machine is also possible (using cold water only, delicate/wool cycle, without agitation, air dry only). But note that washing in a machine will make yarn thinner, harder to touch, some softness will be lost. ​
