Our chunky yarn is 100% handmade. It is hand-spun from 100% extra fine merino wool 18,5 microns from Italy. It is the best and premium merino quality in a market known for its extra softness and silkiness. It is a single ply, popular roving type yarn with a slight twist. Merino yarn goes through all necessary stages from fiber preparation to a spinning on a spinning wheel and washing to make lightly felted. This helps to fix the form of the yarn and get smooth textured surface with a unique look and soft feel. It allows knitwear to be more practical, prevents pilling and shedding.

Merino Wool Origin and Certifications
  • Extra fine merino wool tops used to the production of our wool come from both Australia and South America and are carefully selected in Italian factory to ensure constant quality over time.
  • Additionally, being of animal origin, the extra fine Merino wool top is biodegradable and therefore environmentally friendly.
  • All lots are MULESING FREE. The dyeing complies with Oeko-Tex Standard 100 and is done in a dyeinghouse in Italy which is GOTS 5.0 and GRS certified.

Care
  • Professional dry cleaning once a season is recommended.
  • For everyday care, gently air the cardigan after wearing and store it folded, not hanging, to help keep its shape.
  • A fabric shaver is a must-have for maintaining the fresh look of chunky wool knitwear. Natural merino wool may develop light pilling with wear, especially during the first wears and in areas of friction such as the sleeves, sides and underarms. This is normal for soft natural wool and can be easily refreshed with a fabric shaver.
  • Gentle hand washing in cool water is possible if needed. Do not rub, twist or agitate the garment. Lay flat to dry. Please note that a chunky wool cardigan becomes very heavy when wet.
  • Machine washing is not recommended, as it may change the yarn texture and reduce the softness and chunky look of the cardigan.
