Luxurious merino & silk blend collection of a thick wool yarn MERINO MINI.  Hand spun extra thick wool with the addition of a silk. Lightly felted roving yarn in rich colors. The combination of extra-fine merino wool with a silk makes an excellent effect of softness and shine. 

Perfect for chunky knitting, such as  next-to-skin chunky knitted clothes and super chunky blankets. Ideal for knitting snoods, scarves, sweaters, cardigans, hats, blankets and many more things. The yarn is very easy and pleasant  to knit with. Perfect for children!

Fiber
70% merino wool 18,5 microns / 30% silk tussah. The blend is made with 70% extra fine merino wool from both Australia and South America and 30% tussah silk from China. All lots are MULESING FREE.
The dyeing complies with Oeko-Tex Standard 100 and is done in a dyeinghouse in Italy which is GOTS 5.0 and GRS certified.

Super thick wool details
Handspun single ply roving type yarn with a slight twist. The yarn is lightly felted to fix its form. It allows it to be more practical, avoid pilling and breaking. But still it remains very soft and very pleasant. It is easier to knit with it.

Average tension: 5 stitches + 9 rows per 10 cm / 4 inches

How much extra thick wool yarn MERINO MINI do you need for a chunky knitwear?:

Hats & Beanies – 1 skein usually, 2 skeins for extra-large hat 
Cowls - 1 skein for a small snood/cowl, 2 skeins for infinity cowl 
Scarves – 2 skeins for a small scarf, 3-4 skeins for a large long scarf, 5 skeins for a super large long scarf
Sweaters – 5– 7 skeins
Cardigan – 7– 10 skeins, depends how large the sweater/cardigan will be, the length of the sleeves

How much thick knitting wool do you need for a chunky blankets and throws?:

1 kg (5 skeins) makes approx 80x115 cm (30*45 inches). Knit blanket loosely (for blankets we recommend 20 mm circular needless) to get the best result. The quantity is approximate and can differ because of density and blanket design.

  • Tender hand wash is possible for small items (beanie, scarf, cowl). Cool water, no agitation, lay flat to dry.
  • Specialized dry cleaning is recommended for big pieces (sweater, blanket).
  • Washing machine is also possible (using cold water only, delicate/wool cycle, without agitation, air dry only). But note that washing in a machine will make yarn thinner, harder to touch, some softness will be lost.
