Jumbo yarn MERINO MAXI

Hand spun from a super soft merino wool roving, slightly felted for stability, this jumbo yarn knits up quickly and is ideal for creating chunky pieces. Nice, soft jumbo wool yarn. Available in wide range of solid and melange colors.


The price is for 100 grams. The biggest skein with an unbreakable thread is one kilogram (as shown on photos). As example, ordering 1,5 kg you get two skeins — 1 kg and 500 grams.

Single ply with a fashionable loose twist construction, roving yarn. Lightly felted jumbo yarn becomes more practical, easier to knit with. Avoids shedding, pilling or breaking.
Needles recommended
20-30 mm / 35-60 US

Average tension: 3 stitches + 5 rows / 4 inches (ca. 10 cm). One stitch = approximately 3 cm.


Recommended knitting needles:
20 mm (US 36) — hats, beanies, tight structured design as well.
25 mm (US 50) — scarves, cardigans, sweaters, throws.
30 mm (US 60) — blankets, loose knitting projects, or while knitting tightly usually.

How much jumbo yarn do you need to knit


How much jumbo yarn will you need to make a throw blanket?
One kg skein of a jumbo wool yarn makes approximately 75×75 cm (ca. 30×30 inches) square in 2-3 hours. Use 25 mm needles or more, knit loosely to get the perfect result.

How many jumbo wool yarn is needed for blanket_size chart
  • Tender hand wash is possible for small items (beanie, scarf, cowl). Cool water, no agitation, lay flat to dry.
  • Specialized dry cleaning is recommended for big pieces (sweater, blanket).
  • Washing machine is also possible (using cold water only, delicate/wool cycle, without agitation, air dry only). But note that washing in a machine will make yarn thinner, harder to touch, some softness will be lost.
